Crawford Violoncello Concerto "Pools of Sorrow"

For Full Orchestra

Description

This Concerto marked a permanent change in Crawford's style of compositions. This was the first emotional piece Crawford wrote. He experienced a major heartbreak that caused him to make plenty of mistakes in his concerto the same night. He didn't go to school the next day, but instead wrote this piece in 24 hours. This was also the same day his music changed as he realized he could cope with his compositions.

The melody of the cello in this piece sings to him and makes him cry even years later. As he discovered that he could cope with his compositions, almost every other piece he wrote was a story of pain and suffering he's endured for up to 8 years.

This piece has expressive Cello, Oboe, Trumpet, Horn, Bass, Piano, Violin, Flute, Bassoon, and Viola Excerpts.
