Crawford Overture "June"
For Full Orchestra
Description
Crawford considers this piece to be his most depressing work of music he ever wrote. He unconsciously made this work's main melody his “Heartbroken Melody”. He wrote this in 2 days after he went through weeks full of heartbreak that occurred from late May through early June. This piece was about how he felt the entire month of June.
This piece has outstanding Cello, Trumpet, French Horn, Viola, Violin, and Bassoon Excerpts.
Fun Fact: Crawford discovered Tchaikovsky's 6th symphony “Pathétique” less than a week after he finished this piece and it had a huge impact on his later compositions.
