Crawford Symphony VII in D Minor
For Full Orchestra
A symphony symbolizing love and excitement two turtle doves bring to each other.
Description
Crawford wrote this symphony after discovering his new favorite composer and finding two girls he loved. He was already permanently heartbroken by one of them and still loved her. The other girl spent the whole summer with her and her family. He always loved hanging out with her although didn’t want to admit his feelings for her. He unconsciously put out all of his romantic frustrations and personal feelings into this symphony, making his first truly romantic symphony.
This symphony has fabulous Strings, Clarinet, Bassoon, English Horn, Trumpet, Horn, Flute, Piccolo, Crash Cymbal, and Timpani excerpts.
Fun Fact: Crawford likes to nickname this symphony his “P. Tchaikovsky Symphony” due to the similarities this symphony has with Tchaikovsky’s works.
